Valoriza opts for Mercedes-Benz eEconic for waste collection in Madrid
100% electric trucks, designed for urban works with continuous stops and starts
A delegation from Valoriza learned first-hand about the performance of these innovative vehicles

Valoriza Servicios Mediambientales continues its commitment to sustainability and efficiency with the acquisition of two new Mercedes-Benz eEconic trucks, a 100% electric vehicle designed especially for urban works where there are continuous stops and starts.
At the facilities of Concesur Madrid, in Pinto, and accompanied by Joaquín Fernández-Vial, President of the Concesur Group, the General Manager of Valoriza Urban Services, Antonio Gutiérrez, together with the Business Development Director, Pablo Pérez, were able to see first-hand the performance of these innovative vehicles. They were accompanied by Antonio García-Patiño, CEO of Daimler Truck España and Laura Rodriguez, Special Vehicles Manager of Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
These two new vehicles will soon begin to provide service in the collection of solid urban waste in Madrid within Lot 2, which Valoriza is in charge of in a joint venture, corresponding to the nine districts of Retiro, Salamanca, Chamartín, Moratalaz, Ciudad Lineal, Hortaleza, Vicálvaro, San Blas-Canillejas and Barajas, with a total population of approximately 1.2 million inhabitants.
Perfect for urban environments
The Mercedes-Benz eEconic can cover all daily journeys in urban environments, without emissions and on a single charge. This is possible because it has two electric motors integrated into the rear axle and three battery packs of 336 kWh capacity, plus an efficient energy recovery system in braking, something very common in cities.
In this line, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has not only sought improvements in sustainability, but also improved safety and ergonomics. Thus, the new eEconic includes a large heated windshield that, combined with the low position of the driver that improves the access and exit of the vehicle, allows a great visibility of the environment and a frontal view of the traffic around us.
In addition, the eEconic includes up to ten driving assistance systems that maintain safety in the most critical situations. Among these systems, the most prominent are the Active Brake Assist 5 with pedestrian detection, the lane change detector, turn assist or rain and light sensor.
