Lleida, August 24, 2026.

Valoriza, through Ilnova—the joint venture formed with Romero Polo—has begun implementing the new street cleaning and waste collection contract for the City of Lleida. The service represents an investment of 262 million euros over the next ten years, the largest investment made to date by the City of Lleida in this area.

The new service model incorporates more resources, technology, and monitoring tools with the aim of improving efficiency in waste management and enhancing the cleanliness and maintenance of public spaces. Implementation will take place gradually over the coming months.

Among the key improvements is an approximately 50% increase in the service’s key performance indicators, accompanied by a significant expansion of the workforce. The staff will grow from 210 to 305 professionals, with the addition of 95 new employees, and the number of hours dedicated to cleaning tasks will increase.

Comprehensive renewal of the fleet and waste containers

The contract provides for the complete renewal of the fleet of vehicles and machinery, as well as the replacement of all the city’s waste containers. The first new vehicles and equipment are expected to begin arriving by the end of September.

The transformation also includes the closure of underground containers and the creation of 20 new collection points in l'Horta, with the goal of improving the management of different waste categories and enhancing service quality in Lleida’s various neighborhoods.

Five Operational Bases to Improve Response Capacity

Another key feature of the new model will be the territorial organization of the service through five operational bases distributed throughout the city.

This structure will bring teams closer to the different areas of Lleida, reduce travel times, and improve the ability to respond to the service’s day-to-day needs.

With this new contract, Valoriza reinforces its commitment to transforming urban services by combining professionals, innovation, technology, and new resources to move toward models that are more efficient, sustainable, and tailored to the needs of each city.

The launch of this service marks a new step in the company’s commitment to offering solutions that help improve the quality of life in cities and build urban environments that are cleaner, more sustainable, and better prepared for the future.
