Astillero (Cantabria) entrusts Valoriza with its street cleaning and waste collection service
The new contract includes the future incorporation of the selective collection of biowaste

Valoriza has taken over the management of the street cleaning and solid urban waste collection service in the municipality of Astillero (Cantabria), also including the town of Guarnizo. This contract, awarded for an initial period of 2 years with the possibility of annual extensions up to a maximum of 5 years, is a major step in the company's commitment to sustainability and the improvement of municipal services in a town of more than 18,000 inhabitants.
The signing of the contract was attended by the Mayor of Astillero, Javier Fernández, together with the Director of Urban Services Northern Zone of Valoriza, Ángel González, accompanied by other representatives of both the municipality and the company.
With a contract value of 1.5 million euros for the first two years, it includes the collection of the remaining fractions, paper-cardboard and light packaging, in addition to the future incorporation of the bio-waste fraction, an advance that reinforces Astillero's commitment to the circular economy and respect for the environment.
Increase in staff and improvement of the service
The management of the service includes the expansion of the workforce, which will increase from 11 to 15 people, thus ensuring greater coverage and efficiency in the work of street cleaning and waste collection in the municipality. This reinforcement will make it possible to optimally meet the needs of citizens and maintain public spaces in the best conditions.
