Ana Benavent: “We are constantly searching for new technologies to implement in our production processes”

This week, South Summit has once again become the global benchmark for open innovation that connects startups, companies and investors, over three days at La Nave in Madrid. For the first time, Valoriza became a partner of the event, with a large delegation during the event.

One of the round tables at the South Summit, entitled 'Industry Isn't Waste: Rethinking Industrial Waste Management', was led by Ana Benavent, Director of Waste Treatment Studies and Projects at Valoriza.

During her speech, Benavent explained that “we are a company with extensive experience in the sector, which implements new technologies in production processes to treat the different waste fractions differently, thus placing us at the forefront of the sector, as an innovative reference company capable of treating any type of flow”. “We are constantly looking for new technologies, focusing on those that are already minimally proven and that can be scaled up in our plants,” he added.

On the other hand, he emphasized that “we have our own product, completely circular, which is RarX. It is the full circle in tire recycling".

The importance of legislation

During the round table they also addressed issues of legislation, with Benavent recalling the importance of European legislation, since “more than 50% of the laws passed since 2019 are transpositions of European laws, so Europe sets a trend not only for us, but worldwide.”

“The new Waste Law has increased the landfill disposal fee from 0 to a minimum of 30 euros per ton, so it is pushing us from the economic issue to look for new ways to treat waste in order to be more efficient,” she concluded.
